When is the last time you took a moment to be grateful?
Right now, we live in a highly fast paced, technology fueled generation. With social media allowing us to see how much better our neighbours lives are than our own, how much happier someone else is, how much more they have than us and the constant ability to compare our world to someone we barely know. We are starting to lose our sense of gratefulness for what we do have.
It is said that comparison is the thief of joy, and that has never been truer.
When we compare ourselves to anyone else, we lose the love & joy for our own unique lives.
But when we decide to look at our own lives and find the wonder, beauty and amazement in it, it grows!
If you make the commitment to each day find things in your life that you are thankful for, it will blossom. Just as when we look at things in a negative light, it becomes easy to find more and more things to be negative about. When we turn that around and find opportunities to plant positive thoughts, our whole world will reveal more things to be positive about!
This practice can be done throughout the day, at any time. For you it may be most beneficial to use a positive grateful thought to block out a moment of comparison or negativity as they come up. Or you may find it to impactful to close your day by thinking or writing down the items or moments that were positive and that you are grateful for. Doing this can actually improve your sleep as you are wiring your brain to search out positivity, and will result in a deeper sleep and a more pleasant waking experience!
One of the most revolutionary practices in my life has been to start a gratitude journal. Each night before bed taking time to consciously search out items that I am grateful for, big or small, has lead to a snowball effect of more things to be grateful for. You may or may not believe it, but positivity attracts more positivity. And the more grateful you become the more things you find to be grateful for! I am a living testament to that!
Why continue to live your life comparing to others, which is completely unfair to yourself.
Why continue to let negative thoughts seep into your subconscious mind.
Block out negativity with positive thoughts about yourself, those around and your world.
Let gratitude fill your mind, conscious thoughts and watch your world change!
